About Us

Hello there!  My name is Anthony and I am the owner and creator of Starfall Apothecary!  I began this adventure officially in September of 2022, however I have been crafting and making all my life.  Our goal is quite simple.  To make quality bath and body products by hand, and ensure that they are as natural and as healthy for your skin as possible.

Our Full Story

Buckle up, this is going to be a long one, you've been warned.  Ever since I was young I've had a fascination with doing things by hand.  This cropped up with always wanting to make homemade everything I could in the kitchen.  Making doughs by hand, making bread, cakes, pasta, sauces, anything and everything I could make myself and do it with my own two hands I absolutely loved.  I think this was instilled in me by my parents.  Growing up my mom taught me how to bake, and my dad was always fixing things or making things in the house that we needed.  They both have always had a garden and we've made fresh tomato sauces and zucchini breads from what we grew.  We pick strawberries and make jams, we canned everything that we have in surplus.  Y'all get the idea.

This fascination with creating and making things homemade eventually lead me to candles.  Something I do not actually sell! I wanted to start to make my own candles and I bought a kit and started creating.  They were nothing special, and they were honestly pretty terrible quality, but the seed had been planted.  One day out adventuring with my family I had bought a lotion.  I wish I could remember who I had bought it from, I would credit my entire business to them.  It was a simple lotion with just a few ingredients and it was handmade.  I never knew you could make a lotion yourself.  So I started to research, how could I make my own lotions? What goes in a lotion?  I went down the rabbit hole.  I entered an entirely new realm of what handcrafted skin care products could do.  I also started to learn about the hundreds of ingredients that could be added to products you buy in the store.  Ones with 12 preservatives and silicone and random ingredients you couldn't pronounce even in your wildest dreams.  I saw these ingredient lists, and I compared it to the one I had bought.  It was simple.  Water, a few butters, and an emulsifier.  Then I said to myself, "I could make this, I could do this myself, I would never have to buy anything with hundreds of ingredients again".

After a good few months of testing.  I was completely hooked.  Not only had I made a lotion recipe that I had ADORED.  I had dove headfirst into everything that had to deal with handcrafted bath and body products.  My hero and the one that I had the most fascination with being soap.  It is something that we all use every single day.  It seems so mundane but to me it was magical.  After I made my first batch of cold process soap.  I was completely and utterly addicted.  After giving some of my soaps away to people for them to try and receiving amazing feedback, as well as my own adoration for the recipe I had researched and formulated for months and months.  I decided that I needed to make more.  Once I started, I could not stop, and thus I had to do something with all of my bars of soap.  Due to that, Starfall Apothecary was born.

Now you may ask, "What in the Hell does your business name mean?"

Well,  traditionally an apothecary sold medicines to people.  I took that name apothecary as I did not want to limit myself and what I wanted to sell.  Many people in this industry call themselves "The XXXXXX Soapery". I felt that those kinds of names were limiting.  I did not want to limit myself to just soap, so I decided on apothecary.  The starfall part came about because I am slightly also obsessed with astrology and the sun, moon, and stars.  Additionally, it was the name of my favorite spell to cast in my favorite video game... Don't judge me!  Because of that Starfall Apothecary got its name.  After that the theming started to fit.  My bars of soap morphed from "Citrus" and "Charcoal" to "Sunfire" and "Dark Moon".  My sugar scrubs I called stardust.  Everything theming wise just kind of came to me so easily and I knew I was where I belonged and doing what I was meant to do.  As an aside, if you have made it this far down, good on you, you deserve this, put in code "I read the damn thing" in at checkout on our store for ten percent off your order. You have to finish reading though, you're almost there!

Cut to today, well, cut to when I am writing this.  I've gone down even more rabbit holes and I sell not only my gorgeous soap recipe, but I have created recipes for sugar scrubs, lip balms, lotions, bath bombs, and even more products that are unreleased.  I love to do new things and I am always creating.  I think this has gone on long enough.  If you have read all of this and made it this far, thank you.  It is truly appreciated and I hope you follow me on my journey.  As always, be kind to yourself, and to others, and have a magical day.
